Putting together the earthquake preparedness kit made me realize a couple of things. The first thing I realized about this kit is how important it is to have one. The second was how the kit can save lives, and families. I made this kit with my family and they also noticed how important this was. We had fun, and that is when I realized that if there ever was a huge earthquake, I would want this kit so my family can keep having these moments.
Essentials
There is a few things that I added that are not essentials, but I added them anyways. The canned food, plates, trash bags, flashlights, batteries, toothbrush, water, duct tape, toilet paper and wipes are necessities. I got 4 gallons of water for the four people in my house. I got many trash bags, batteries, and flash lights. I brought canned goods, peanut butter, medications, pain relief medicine, and vitamins. These are important so we can eat, stay as healthy as possible, and stay okay. The radio helps us out too.
How will the kit help?
My pets and my family will stay safe during an emergency. With my preparedness kit, I have a plan of where to go, what to do, and who to call. After an emergency, my family will go to the closest window, or door if possible and meet at the patio, which is away from all dangers. We have to drop, cover, and hold. We will call American Red Cross, depending on how serious the earthquake is. They phone numbers, and a plan is written and in the kit, along with pens and a notepad incase we need to write any notes.
